Taiwan Association of Psychotherapy (TAP) was founded by a group of enthusiastic psychotherapy professionals on Aug. 5th, 2001 after earnest preparation.
The goal of TAP is to improve the research and development, education and training, field practices, and professional meetings of its members, while strengthening its networking and cooperation with various national and international psychiatric, psychotherapeutic and mental health institutions.
To this end, the mission of the TAP is as follows,
- Promote both the research and field practices of psychotherapy.
- Participate in and host both national and international academic events and conferences associated with psychotherapy.
- Publish psychotherapy-related literature and periodicals.
- Host educational events with regards to psychotherapy and clinical supervision.
- With proper authorization from relevant institutions, conduct psychotherapy-
related events.
The association seeks to promote the development and training of psychotherapy professionals while raising public awareness regarding mental health and psychotherapy, with the intent of establishing a channel of professional assistance for those in need.
Qualifications For Membership Application
- Membership: Those who consent with the goal of this association, with the recommendation of at least 2 members may apply for membership if one of the two following conditions is met.
(1) Those who possess national certification or equivalent professional licenses and are currently conducting psychotherapeutic practices. Psychiatrists must have at least 2 years of experience while other related professionals must have at least 3 years of experience. (Copies of certificate/licenses are required)
(2) Those who do not possess national certification or equivalent professional licenses but are currently practicing psychotherapy, with at least 8 years of field experience, may become a member with the recommendation of at least 2 members then subject to the approval of the board of directors.
- Associate membership: Those who consent with the goal of this association, and meet one of the two following conditions may apply for associate membership:
(1) University graduates of related disciplines who possess national certification or equivalent professional certificates and are currently practicing psychotherapy, but do not meet the experience requirement for full
membership. (Copies of certificate/licenses are required)
(2) University graduates of related disciplines who are currently practicing psychotherapy, but have not yet been practicing for 8 years. (Copies of certificate/licenses are required)
- Organizational membership: Organizations that consent with the goal of this association, and are currently providing psychotherapy or group counseling. (Copies of introduction and certificate of organization are required)
- Sponsor membership: Professionals who sponsor the goal of this association.
- Permanent membership: Individual members of at least 3 years, consenting to pay 20-years’worth of membership fees in advance shall become a permanent member, and will no longer be required to pay the annual membership fee.
- Honorary membership: Those who are recognized for their special contributions to the development of this association or significant achievements in the field of psychotherapy, subject to the approval of the board of directors, shall receive honorary membership.
Membership Fee
- Admission fee: Applicants for membership, associate membership, organizational membership and sponsor membership are required to submit an admission fee of $2000 NT dollars upon admission.
- Annual membership fee: Members and sponsor members are required to submit
an annual membership fee of $1500 NT dollars; associate members $1000 NT
dollars; organizational members $5000 NT dollars.
